About Leuven

Belgium’s Oxford is an elegant and vital city just twenty kilometres
from Brussels. Though Leuven thinks like a metropolis, it has nevertheless
managed to retain its human scale.
Leuven boasts many magnificent monuments, including the Town Hall, St Peter’s Church and the Large Beguinage which is recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site. The city can also take pride in recent architectural tours de force by leading international architects: the Martelarenplein (Manuel de Solà-Morales), the Philips site (Aldo Rossi),
the Arenberg campus library (Rafael Moneo) and the provincial government building of Flemish Brabant (Gonçalo Sousa Byrne).

Leuven has all the heady charm of a vibrant university city. It also boasts numerous first-rate cafés and restaurants and offers excellent shopping. These days multi-faceted Leuven, the capital of Flemish- Brabant, has more zest for living than ever!

DRIVEN BY PASSION
Or how passion can be the motor of change Rogier van der Weyden’s legacy was momentous. Without realizing it
he took history in a new direction. The walk tells seven stories about the unexpected forces of passion and rapture: in art but also in other areas, in a distant past but also much more recently. Steeped in history, the centre of Leuven inspires and illustrates. Motion + emotivity

Aha! WetenStappen in Leuven - Passion
Aha! WetenStappen is an ingenious scientific trail to be followed on foot. Every year a different route is marked out running from faculty to faculty. At each of the 20 stops along the way is a large panel bearing a challenging question and a shrewd answer, construed with children as well as adults in mind. In 2009 the t heme of the 12-kilometer-
long trail is, of course, passion. Walk your way to wisdom!
